It was a gorgeous sunny day in Malibu last Friday for the Malibu Surf Classic Women's Logger Open event, presented by Seea and Bing Surfboards. The water was refreshingly warm enough to surf in a bikini (under their jerseys) and the Seea crew camped out under a cluster of umbrellas to cheer on the competing ladies.

Even though the waves were micro-size, all the participants made the best of it and impressed us with their quick cross-stepping on the white ripples. Thanks to everyone who came out to support and congratulations to Lola Mignot (read all about her in the next post, here) for placing Third in the finals of the Women's Logger Open!

Amy Lowry and Jenayl Peters before their heat.

Shakas from Makala Smith.

And they are off!

We stayed cool in the hot sun under umbrellas.

We got to meet Kathy Kohner Zuckerman, the real live Gidget! Kathy's dad wrote the 1959 movie, "Gidget" based on her diary about hanging out at the Malibu pier and learning to surf with the guys.

Surfboard shaper extraordinare and musician, Ashley Lloyd showed us her band merch stored in an awesome vintage suitcase.

Go Lola! Just before the finals.

Congrats to all the ladies who made the finals and to first place winner Jen Smith who took home prizes of a Seea neoprene suit and a Bing Dharma surfboard!

Seea’s swimsuits are made to be elegant in style and functional for wave-riding—both weigh in equal importance. Every suit is designed for surfing and tested in different surf conditions by surfers of different body shapes to ensure that there will be no wardrobe malfunctions, no uncomfortable seams rubbing, and that your back side looks classy when you front side bottom turn.

For our latest R&D mission, we headed south to the warm waters of Nayarit, Mexico with a suitcase full of new neoprene, rashguards, bikinis and one-pieces to test ride.
On a boat and circling around to goofy foot paradise.
We had so many waves all to ourselves.
The test drivers.
Emptying the suitcase and examining the surf suits and wetsuit quiver.

Going on a surf trip and meeting up with the right people abroad can be like dating. There are many surf breaks to choose from, and many people that surf, but finding friends who have your same travel approach, surf style and artistic taste is another story.

We felt so lucky and grateful to be introduced— by friends Margaret Yao Calvani of Bing Surfboards and Ed Fladung of Quality Peoples— to Israel Preciado in Mexico, who was our surf tour guide. It couldn’t be more perfect. Israel knew the best waves, was friends with all the local surfer girls, had shiny Bing surfboards to ride, and laugh-out-loud quotes.

Every day we surfed like it was our job, coming in and out of the water to rehydrate and change outfits as the sun blazed harder or the wind kicked up.

On top of the glassy waves and natural beauty surrounding each different spot, the experience was all the more memorable because of the women and men we met. Whether they were born in Mexico or ex-pats that relocated from another country, it felt like meeting international branches of the same tribe of people as the Seea family in California.

Life according to Israel Preciado, "Fins: its like chicks, you never know how its going to work out in different conditions." Ed Fladung documenting behind the lens.
Gorgeous day and loading up to one of the many breaks easier accessed by boat.
Amanda demonstrates for a jumping-off-the-boat shot. No second chances.
We followed the rules and practiced safety first when traveling on a boat.
The water temperature was almost tropical warm but lightweight leggings were essential for sun protection at noon.
Local princess of Sayulita, Lola Mignot surfed in the Seea 1mm neoprene top with rashgaurd sleeves; and the Palomar cropped top with the Leucadia skirted bottoms. Surfing photos by Ed Fladung.
Food and culture around town.
Our home for the week: Casa Namaste's gardens and the Jalama bikini shown on our natural drying rack on the roof.
Stack up the Bing surfboards on the roof to the next spot!
Jungle trail to the sea.
Last look at lefty heaven. We'll be back.

With a great late Summer weather on tap again, we packed up the car and headed down to Cardiff-By-The-Sea last weekend to set up shop at the Cardiff Surf Classic. Taking full advantage of the bottomed out low tide, we skipped the asphalt parking lot and brought the party straight to the beach! With a primetime view of the contest, we set up the VW bus tent & soaked up some sun while selling suits, and still managed to demo a few boards from our friends at Bing. It was a great day followed by a fabulous dinner with friends. We love California!!

Thanks to everyone who came out, especially those who bought suits! Much love to Margaret & crew for the demo time, and to Betty at Cardiff 101 for the invite!!

Lots of sweet rides at the show, but these three were our favorites!
Julie Goldstein is rad! See more of her unique prints & art here
Plenty of sun and the water's still warm in October. What a Summer!
Ladies of all ages love to shop, but these Seeababes in training will have to wait till next year: "Mom, it fits me, I swear!!" Well, not quite yet, but look for new kids sizing, coming soon!

This week I had the pleasure of being back in my native country, Italy. Besides visiting family, eating lots of pasta, and shopping (of course!!), I finally got back to "business" this weekend, which meant hanging out with Margaret & Matt from Bing at the Single Fin Festival held at Nimbus of Marina di Pietrasanta, just a few hours away from Florence on the Tuscan coast.

Pretty cool to get the chance to hang with Margaret in my own country!!

The Bing crew graciously let me display my suits at their booth while I chased a few Mediterranean ankle slappers.
Le surfiste italiane! These girls were stoked and already knew about Seea - it made me so happy!!
Matt and Margaret check out the premier of another great episode of Onde Nostre
Luca and Giovanni from Onde Nostre screened their logo on the back of my Seea Tank. Thanks guys!
Showing off some Seea suits in the Mediterranean miniswell :)

"Work" continues this week, as it's off to Sardinia to surf and film with my lovely italian ladies and the crew from  Block10 . So excited!! Stay tuned for more trip photos and hijinx from the road. You gotta love Italy!!
